I'm actually a bit shocked that Topaz was going to silently update system files.Īnd now I'm looking at Topaz and they require internet access. I really don't want to deal with the perceived risk of having my other programs suddenly start having problemsĪnd if Topaz needs special GPU drivers, what happens if/when windows stomps all over them with some "new and improved" drivers. If you *really* want to dig into this, two of the Sysinternals tools from Microsoft will show which files a given process has open: Process Explorer (GUI) and Handles (command line). It would be the installer’s fault for not checking to see if its prerequisites are already met and I really don’t think you would have any sort of control over that situation. Having said that, I don’t know how you could get around the problem even if this is confirmed to be the case. Just a guess here, but could it be that the installer for the Topaz product wants to (re)install one of the Microsoft Visual C+ Redistributable packages that you already have on your system? ![]()
